Zelenskyy Meets Trump and Predicts the Conversation Will Be Historic

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with his American counterpart Donald Trump in Rome on the sidelines of official events at the funeral of Pope Francis.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Zelenskyy's post on social media platform X, as well as information from Reuters.
The meeting took place before the Pope's funeral.
According to Zelenskyy, the conversation with Trump at St Peter's Basilica in Rome has the potential to become historic.
The Ukrainian leader noted that the two presidents had discussed a lot of things face to face.
‘Good meeting. We discussed a lot one on one. Hoping for results on everything we covered. Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out,’ he said.
‘Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results,’ the President of Ukraine added.
Zelenskyy also expressed his gratitude to the US president for the conversation.
According to Reuters, a White House official said that Trump and Zelenskyy had a ‘very productive’ meeting on Saturday in Rome.
‘President Trump and President Zelensky met privately today and had a very productive discussion. More information about the meeting will be available later,’ said Stephen Cheung, White House communications director.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on Saturday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, First Lady Olena Zelenska and the Ukrainian delegation have arrived in Rome to take part in the farewell ceremony for Pope Francis, who died on 21 April.
