17-Year-Old Ukrainian Becomes World Junior Skeleton Champion
Ukrainian skeleton athlete Yaroslav Lavreniuk won a gold medal at the World Junior Championships in St Moritz, Switzerland, Ukrinform reports.
The 20-year-old athlete clocked 2 minutes and 18.70 seconds, beating Latvian Emils Indriksons (+0.02) and Swiss Valentino Buff (+1.12).
This result repeats the best achievement of Ukraine in the history of skeleton.
The competition in St Moritz began on Friday with the mixed relay. In this event, Lavreniuk, paired with Yevhenia Kovalchuk, took tenth place.
