All 35,000 tickets sold for today's Germany vs Ukraine football match in Bremen
Today's friendly match between Germany and Ukraine is expected to be a full house: all 35,000 tickets have been sold, with a considerable number of Ukrainians among the spectators. This is reported by the press service of the UAF (Ukrainian Association of Football).
Ukraine will play against Germany in Bremen at the Weserstadion today, June 12th. The match will kick off at 19:00 Kyiv time.
The German national team has not played in Bremen for a whole 12 years, so the German Football Association decided to pay tribute to Bremen for such a long wait, scheduling here a special match - the 1000th for the Bundesteam. Another important point emphasised by the DFB (German Football Association) is the opponent in the anniversary match, the national team of Ukraine, having invited them, the German Football Association stressed its support for Ukraine in its liberation struggle.
The proceeds from the match will go to the fund of the German Football Association, which assists people affected by Russian military aggression.
From the first days of the war, a large blue and yellow flag with the inscription STOP WAR (the same inscription has been on the windscreen of the club bus since February 25, 2022) has been placed on the facade of the Weserstadion. In the city centre, huge Ukrainian flags fly opposite each other - at the old and new city halls. So it won't be an exaggeration to say that in Bremen, you feel support for Ukrainians practically at every step.
The legendary stadium of Bremen's Werder, the Weserstadion, was built as far back as 1924, almost a hundred years ago. Over the century, the white-green arena has undergone many renovations (the last one in 2010), but there are still stands dating back to the last century, in particular the central one, where the media box is now located.
In the atmosphere of support from the organisers, the Ukrainians conducted previous trainings on the field of the Werder football centre, and it was the same the day before, during the pre-match training. It lasted exactly one hour, and all 26 players present in the main team's camp took part in it.
At the beginning of the workout, the players performed a complex of exercises to warm up their muscles, proposed by the fitness coach Xavier Llorente Lobo. After that, coach Sergiy Rebrov and his assistants Vicente Gomez and Alberto Bosch conducted the main part of the training.
The training was quite intense and, in fact, game-oriented. Today we will find out who will start the match against Germany from the starting minutes. However, it can be stated now that all players are highly motivated for the first match under the guidance of the new coach.
After the match with Germany, the Ukrainian national team will play two Euro-2024 qualifiers - against North Macedonia (June 16) and Malta (June 19).
