British Eurofighter Jets to Patrol Polish Skies from 2025
Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamisz said that British Eurofighter jets will patrol Polish airspace from 2025.
He said this at a press conference following a meeting with British Defence Secretary John Healey, TVP reports.
According to Kosiniak-Kamisz, the result of the talks with Healey is a declaration with the UK on sending 4-6 Eurofighter jets next year as part of the Baltic Air Policing mission to patrol Polish skies.
‘We have the same approach to security in Europe and around the world. Poland and the United Kingdom are united in defending democracy and freedom,’ Kosiniak-Kamisz said.
In addition, the Polish Defence Minister informed that a detachment of engineering troops will be sent to the eastern border of Poland with Belarus to inspect the area and make a decision on Poland's support for the construction of the Eastern Shield.
On 13 July, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that Warsaw was considering Kyiv's proposal to shoot down Russian missiles heading towards Polish territory while they were still in Ukrainian airspace. NATO opposed this idea.
As The Gaze previously reported, last year Italy and Spain deployed Eurofighter jets in the Baltic Sea as part of NATO's air control mission.
