Coalition of the Willing Outlines Four Future Security Guarantees for Ukraine

The so-called ‘coalition of the willing’, which consists of three dozen states led by the UK and France, has four main goals for the future security forces of Ukraine: safe skies, safe seas, peace on the ground and a strong Ukrainian army. British Defence Secretary John Healey said this at the beginning of the coalition meeting at NATO Headquarters in Brussels on 10 April.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to European Pravda.
Healey stressed that the ‘coalition of the willing’ is committed to a lasting peace in Ukraine, in particular by achieving four goals: security in the air, at sea and on the ground, and strengthening the Ukrainian armed forces.
‘Our plans are well developed and we have clear goals for Ukraine. First, to ensure safe skies. Second, to ensure a safe sea. Third, to maintain peace on the ground. And fourthly, to support the Ukrainian armed forces to become the strongest deterrent,’ said Gilli.
These goals will be achieved through the ‘reassurance force’ - a future military mission of the ‘coalition of the willing’, the format of which has not yet been agreed upon.
‘Our security assurance force for Ukraine will be a decisive and credible element of the security system, ensuring that any negotiated peace will deliver what President Trump has promised - a lasting peace for Ukraine,’ the British Defence Secretary said.
He stressed that at the meeting on 10 April, representatives of the 30 member states of the ‘coalition of the willing’ will discuss, in particular, ‘military planning’ and ‘focus on the operational planning of the coalition and how we can ensure that we are fully prepared when a peace agreement is reached’.
‘30 countries are bound by the simple belief that peace is possible, and we must be ready for it to come. That is why the work of this coalition is vital. We are stepping up. We are serious. We are sending a message to President Putin, Minister Umerov and the Ukrainian people. We stand with you in the fight and we will stand with you in peace,’ John Healey concluded.
As The Gaze reported earlier, a ‘coalition of the willing’ led by France and Britain is working on a plan to send a mission to Ukraine to guarantee a future ceasefire.
On 4 April, the French and British Chiefs of Defence visited Kyiv to meet with Ukraine's top leadership. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the needs and challenges of the Ukrainian army with a view to providing long-term support.
