Cyprus Becomes First European Country to Select Participant for Eurovision 2025 in Basel
Cyprus has become the first European country to select its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel. It is the Cypriot singer, dancer and songwriter Theo Evan. His entry will be presented later, according to the official Eurovision website.
Theo Evan released his first single, The Wall, in 2021, and since then he has built up a catalogue of singles inspired by Stromae to Michael Jackson. Theo also appeared in the HBO series Euphoria as an extra.
The singer was born in Nicosia. Since childhood, he danced, sang in the school choir and performed in various theatre productions and talent shows in Cyprus, often receiving awards and honours. After graduating from an English school in Nicosia, Theo moved to the United States to study music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated with honours.
To date, Cyprus' best result at the competition is the second place in Lisbon 2018. Then the country was represented by Eleni Foureira with the song Fuego.
Eurovision 2025 will take place in Basel, Switzerland. The semi-finals will take place on 13 and 15 May at the St. Jakobshalle arena, and the grand final will be held on 17 May.
