Ukraine Advances to Eurovision 2025 Grand Final with “Bird of Pray”

Ukraine has officially secured its spot in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, The Gaze reports.
Performing fifth in the first semi-final held in Basel, Switzerland, Ukrainian band Ziferblat captivated the audience with their emotionally charged performance of the song “Bird of Pray.”
The entry — which blends themes of personal loss, longing for home, and hope for the future — deeply resonated with viewers. The song’s central symbol, a bird, represents freedom, rebirth, and the anticipation of change, a message especially poignant amid Ukraine’s ongoing struggle.
The performance was crafted in retro style, bathed in soft pink light, with choreography, pyrotechnics, and stunning visuals, including giant wings that unfurled dramatically at the climax.
The staging was directed by Mariia Korostelova, with costumes designed by renowned Ukrainian designer Ivan Frolov.
At the end of the performance, lead vocalist Daniil Leshchynskyi thanked Europe for its continued support.
Ten acts from 15 competing countries advanced to the final, including entries from Norway, Albania, Sweden, Iceland, the Netherlands, Poland, San Marino, Estonia, Portugal, and Ukraine.
Before the results were announced, audiences were treated to a special moment as past Eurovision artists Jerry Heil (Ukraine 2024), Marina Satti (Greece 2024), iolanda (Portugal 2024), Silvester Belt (Lithuania 2024) and the ESC Project Orchestra performed Céline Dion’s iconic Eurovision-winning song “Ne partez pas sans moi.” Dion also made a surprise video appearance to greet viewers.
The 69th Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Basel, following Switzerland’s win in 2024 by Nemo with the song “The Code.” The second semi-final is scheduled for May 15, and the Grand Final will take place on May 17 at the St. Jakobshalle Arena.
