EU Council President: EU to Allocate €1.5 Billion Monthly From Frozen Russian Assets to Ukraine
By the end of the year, the European Union will allocate €4.2 billion to Ukraine, and in 2025 it will transfer €1.5 billion monthly from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation.
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said this at a press conference in Kyiv.
‘Already this month, the European Union will provide Ukraine with an additional €4.2 billion to support the Ukrainian budget.
In addition to this, starting next month, we will provide €1.5 billion of assistance every month for a whole year. These funds come from the use of frozen Russian assets, and they can also be used for military purposes,’ Costa said.
The President of the European Council noted that the EU will continue to put pressure on the Russian economy and is already working on the 15th package of sanctions to reduce Russia's ability to wage war against Ukraine.
On 1 December, the new president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, arrived in the Ukrainian capital for the first time, according to his post on the social network X.
