EU Preparing New €20 Billion Military Aid Package for Ukraine

The European Union is preparing a package of additional military support for Ukraine worth about €20 billion, Bloomberg reports, citing sources.
The new military aid package includes the delivery of artillery ammunition, air defence systems, high-precision strike missiles, drones, and other weapons. The package will also include ‘strengthening Ukrainian military brigades’.
According to Bloomberg, the initiative will be open to ‘in-kind and cash contributions’ from member states and allies. The document is to be signed at a meeting of foreign ministers on Monday, 24 February, the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
However, the timeline for approving the aid may be shifted, as Hungary has said it will oppose any new military aid to Ukraine, and as Germany counts the election results.
According to Bloomberg, the EU has been rushing to develop plans to support Ukraine, provide it with security guarantees in the event of a peace deal with Russia, and increase its own defence spending since US President Trump postponed talks with Russia indefinitely.
In turn, Politico reports that these efforts are being coordinated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. According to the publication's interlocutors, the assistance is likely to be provided in the form of combined contributions from individual member states rather than an official EU package, given the position of some countries, including Hungary.
