Europe, US Respond to Deadly Russian Strike on Kyiv

US President Donald Trump, as well as European diplomats and leaders, have condemned Russia's massive strike on Kyiv on 24 April, which has killed at least nine people.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to their posts on social media.
‘I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!’ Trump wrote on Truth social.
Europeans, for their part, expressed support for Ukraine and called for stronger opposition to the aggressor.
‘Only peace through strength can work: Russia must be forced to peace, and Ukraine's self-defence must be strengthened,’ said Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže.
She added that today's massive attacks on Ukrainian civilians prove that the ‘butcher in the Kremlin’ is determined to wage war. There are no signs of peace.
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, also expressed her support for Ukraine, saying that despite the world's expectations of war, Russia demonstrates that it seeks not peace but destruction and death.
‘While the world is hoping for a ceasefire, Russia is once again demonstrating that it does not want peace, but only death and destruction. Its latest missile attack on Kyiv resulted in the deaths and injuries of civilians. Moldova condemns this terror,’ Sandu said.
She also added that Ukraine needs more support and stronger air defences.
‘Only force can stop this war,’ the Moldovan leader stressed.
EU Chief Diplomat Kaja Kallas noted that Russia's actions are a mockery of peace, not a commitment to it.
‘Claiming to seek peace, Russia has launched a deadly air strike on Kyiv. This is not the pursuit of peace, it is a mockery of it. The real obstacle is not Ukraine, but Russia, whose war aims have not changed,’ Kallas said.
The Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova, expressed her deep regret that a Russian missile destroyed an entire residential area last night.
‘Last night, a Russian missile destroyed an entire residential neighbourhood in Kyiv. 9 people were killed, including children. People are still under the rubble,’ Maternova wrote.
She added that the house of one of her employees was hit by the blast wave, the person was not injured.
‘This is Russia's deadly lottery that Ukraine lives with every day,’ Mathernova concluded.
The Italian Embassy also released its reaction to the Russian attack.
‘Another night of Russian attacks across Ukraine. In Kyiv alone, there are already 9 civilian casualties and more than 70 wounded; the rubble of destroyed buildings is being cleared. We strongly condemn this horrific violent cruelty. We support Ukraine in its search for a just peace,’ the statement said.
As The Gaze reported earlier, during the night, emergency services extinguished approximately 40 fires across nine regions of Ukraine due to a massive assault by Russian forces. Kyiv and its surrounding areas, along with Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia, faced a coordinated and devastating attack.
Kyiv was hit the hardest, with responders deployed to 13 different sites.
Nine fatalities have been confirmed in Kyiv due to the Russian strikes, with over 70 people sustaining injuries, including six children.
