European Leaders, Joined by US VP, Outline Path to End Russia’s War Against Ukraine

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who jointly chaired Wednesday's online meeting of Coalition leaders, issued a joint statement on the outcome of the meeting.
The Gaze reports, referring to the press release on the official website of the UK government.
European leaders supported Donald Trump's peace initiatives to end Russia's war against Ukraine and stressed that no decisions can be made without Ukraine's participation. They emphasized the need to combine diplomacy, support for Ukraine, and pressure on Russia to achieve a just and lasting peace that will ensure the security of Ukraine and Europe.
They also emphasized several important points:
First, real negotiations are only possible if there is a ceasefire or a significant reduction in the intensity of hostilities.
Second, if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire in Alaska, sanctions pressure on its military econоmy must be intensified.
Third, international borders must remain unchanged.
Fourth, Ukraine must receive reliable and verified security guarantees to effectively protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The Coalition of the Willing is ready to play an active role, including through plans by those willing to deploy a reassurance force once hostilities have ceased,” the report states.
The Coalition of the Willing also emphasized that there should be no restrictions on Ukraine's armed forces or its cooperation with third countries. At the same time, Russia cannot have the right to veto Ukraine's path to the EU and NATO.
They confirmed that they would continue to work closely with Ukraine, as well as with President Trump and the United States of America, whose representative was present at such an event of the Coalition of the Willing for the first time.
The US was represented at the event by Vice President J.D. Vance, whose presence underscored the importance of American support and demonstrated Washington's willingness to actively participate in international efforts aimed at achieving peace.
"I appreciate the ongoing coordination with President Trump ahead of Friday's meeting in Alaska and welcome the fact that Vice President J.D. Vance attended today's meeting of the Coalition of the Willing for the first time. I am pleased that we have a clear consensus within the Coalition of the Willing on how to proceed," said Czech President Petr Fiala.
Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schoof also positively noted the presence of the US representative at the event, emphasizing that this conversation demonstrated a high degree of unity and broad agreement on important principles.
As The Gaze informed earlier, on the night of August 10, leading European politicians issued a joint statement addressed to the presidents of the United States and Russia ahead of the planned meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
