Finnish President Stubb Arrives in Kyiv for High-Level Talks

Finnish President Alexander Stubb arrived in Ukraine on Thursday for an official visit focused on European security, Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic path, and steps toward a durable peace.
The Gaze reports this, referring to a post by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
He stated on X that he and Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak welcomed Stubb at Kyiv’s central railway station.
“We are grateful to Finland for its steadfast support, leadership in the OSCE, and principled position. We value President Stubb’s personal efforts and commitment,” Sybiha noted, thanking Finland for its consistent backing and principled stance.
The Finnish president’s office said Stubb will confer with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the current situation in Ukraine, efforts to end Russia’s unlawful war of aggression, and continued Finnish assistance.
It added that Finland is working within the “Сoalition of the Willing” and is involved in shaping security measures now being developed for Ukraine.
Kyiv highlighted that the agenda includes European integration issues, transatlantic pressure on Russia, and practical steps toward a lasting settlement.
Stubb has recently been active in facilitating contacts between European leaders and U.S. President Donald Trump on pathways to end the war. He joined Zelenskyy’s trip to Washington on August 18, shortly after Trump’s meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In earlier comments, Stubb criticized Moscow’s negotiating approach as demanding the impossible, and he voiced hope that President Trump’s patience toward Russia would eventually run out.
As The Gaze previously reported, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said Russia’s Vladimir Putin has no intention of ending the war in Ukraine this year and called for sustained efforts to weaken Moscow’s military capacity.
