FBI Reports Assassination Attempt on Trump: Former US President Shot in the Street
Former US President Donald Trump was wounded on Saturday night during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
This was reported by CNN.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation believes it was an attempt on his life. According to the Secret Service, the attacker and at least one of the attendees were killed, and two other visitors were seriously injured.
Trump posted on social media that he had been shot and that a bullet had hit his right ear.
The Secret Service said the former president was now safe after he was rushed off the stage with a bloody face.
The FBI identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
Authorities say he fired several shots from the roof of a building near the rally site before being killed by Secret Service agents.
President Joe Biden spoke to Trump after the shooting and condemned the violence. He said he was "grateful" that Trump was safe.
Biden, who had planned to stay in Delaware for the weekend, returned to the White House earlier than planned to continue receiving briefings from law enforcement.
