Finland Develops Long-Range Drone for Ukraine
Finnish company Insta is presenting a Steel Eagle drone with an extended range, developed in cooperation with Ukrainian specialists, at the SecD Day event in Helsinki. This was reported by Yle portal.
‘If you work only in Finland, you cannot understand what the device should be like,’ said Tuure Lehtoranta, Sales and Marketing Director of Defence at Insta.
The helicopter-type drone has already been put into mass production. It is designed to engage enemy manpower and is equipped with a fan-shaped charge with steel and tungsten balls. When exploded from a height of several tens of metres, these elements are capable of piercing the roof of a conventional or lightly armoured vehicle.
According to Lechtoranta, three such drones are enough to inflict significant losses on the enemy in a territory the size of a football field. In addition, the drone is equipped with enhanced electronic warfare capabilities.
The Finnish Defence and Aerospace Association PIA notes that more than ten defence companies in Finland directly cooperate with Ukrainian manufacturers.
Insta is a high-tech company and a strategic partner of the Finnish Defence Forces.
