Germany Delivers 60 Gepards to Ukraine, Prepares More IRIS-T Units

Germany has already supplied Ukraine with more than 60 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns and is preparing to deliver an additional IRIS-T air-defense system.
The Gaze reports this, referring to Interfax, citing a statement made by Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksii Makeiev.
Makeiev highlighted the effectiveness of the Gepard systems, which have proven highly successful against Shahed-type kamikaze drones.
However, he noted that evolving Russian tactics have made intercepting these drones more challenging.
In addition to Gepard, Makeiev praised the performance of Rheinmetall’s Skynex air-defense system, which is currently deployed by Ukraine’s Air Force and delivering strong results.
According to the ambassador, Ukraine and Germany are exploring joint production of additional air-defense systems.
“Moreover, initial discussions are already underway between Ukraine’s defense industry and Germany on jointly producing additional air defense systems – specifically, mounting a Rheinmetall gun on a different chassis and integrating missile systems,” Makeiev explained.
In addition, Germany has already transferred seven IRIS-T systems to Ukraine, with the eighth system expected soon.
As The Gaze reported earlier, German company Hensoldt has received an order worth over €340 million to supply radars to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
