Germany to Deliver Long-Range Weapons to Ukraine in July

Germany will begin delivering long-range weapons to Ukraine this month, marking a significant step in Berlin’s efforts to bolster Kyiv’s defense capabilities.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to ZDF.
Speaking to Germany’s television channel, Bundeswehr General Christian Freuding confirmed that the first deliveries of German-funded long-range systems will arrive by the end of July.
The support package includes hundreds of units, with further shipments expected in the coming weeks.
“Russia has been on the offensive for several weeks, if not months, and the military situation in Ukraine remains extremely tense,” Freuding noted.
According to the general, this new wave of support will enhance Ukraine’s air defense and expand its operational range, significantly boosting its military effectiveness throughout the summer and into the fall.
“Ukraine needs weapon systems capable of penetrating deep into Russian territory and striking warehouses, command posts, airfields, and aircraft,” he stated.
The deliveries are part of a broader defense cooperation initiative announced in May, when German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov signed an agreement in Berlin to finance domestically-produced long-range weapons in Ukraine.
Earlier this month, German officials finalized the first contract to support weapons manufacturing inside Ukraine. The deal covers long-range drones, some of which have reportedly already been used to strike targets within Russian territory.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on July 10, Germany confirmed its readiness to purchase additional Patriot air defense systems from the United States in order to deliver them to Ukraine.
