"Godzilla x Kong: New Empire" Sets Record Box Office of $200 Million in Just Four Days

The film "Godzilla х Kong: The New Empire" monster triumph from Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment has grossed $95 million domestically and $210 million worldwide after four days of release. Now, in its second weekend of release, Godzilla vs. Kong could gross between $32 million and $36 million, Variety reports.
"We wanted to show something very interesting for the audience," says Mary Parent, producer of Godzilla x Kong. "No one has a crystal ball. You can only hope and dream. So it's really good and exciting to see this result around the world."
The takings, down 55% from the opening weekend, will be enough to put the film ahead of two newcomers in the competition: the action film "Monkey Man" directed by Dev Patel and the supernatural prequel "The First Omen" from Disney and 20th Century.
"The film aims to raise $12 million at the start. In turn, The First Sign is expected to gross $14-15m.
Kung Fu Panda 4, Dune: Part Two" and "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which will otherwise close the box office charts.
After just three days of release, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" became the third highest-grossing film of the year. Over the first weekend, it grossed $194 million worldwide, second only to Dune: Part Two" ($626 million after five weeks of release) and "Kung Fu Panda 4" ($347 million after four weeks of release) in total ticket sales.
The film has grossed $114 million internationally from 64 markets. It also significantly exceeded expectations in North America, grossing $80 million in its first weekend of release. Overseas, China led the way with $44 million, followed by Mexico with $12.8 million and India with $5.5 million.
