Britain's King Charles to Visit Poland for Auschwitz Commemoration Ceremony
Britain's King Charles III will visit Poland at the end of January to take part in events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Buckingham Palace has announced.
According to the statement, on 27 January, Charles will take part in a memorial service at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Museum, which commemorates the concentration camp created by Nazi Germany in Poland.
More than 1.1 million people died in the camp, most of whom were Jews. They were victims of gas chambers, starvation, disease, and cold.
On the eve of the commemorative events, the King will meet with representatives of the Krakow community and will also meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
