Russia has once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine, this time largely directing various types of drones and missiles at Kyiv and the surrounding region.

The Gaze reports this, referring to Ukrainian state authorities.

During the night of December 27, the enemy carried out a combined strike on the capital. As a result of the shelling, fires broke out in several districts of Kyiv.

“Almost the entire night, a Russian terrorist attack on the capital has been ongoing. As of now, we have multiple locations in seven districts of Kyiv that have been affected by enemy strikes,” said Tymur Tkachenko, Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Civilian infrastructure, private homes, and multi-story residential buildings were hit. As of 9 a.m., at least 11 people have been reported injured, including a 16-year-old child. Emergency services are working at the scene.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported damage in the Darnytskyi district, where several private houses caught fire. There was a risk of the flames spreading to a nearby nursing home, from which rescuers evacuated 10 people.

Debris also struck a 24-story residential building, causing a fire on the top floor. Nearby, another residential building was damaged by a UAV strike, with a fire reported on its upper floors. In addition, emergency services responded to a report of a vehicle fire caused by falling drone debris.

In the Dnipro district, a fire broke out on the fourth floor of an 18-story building. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a UAV hit the top floor of a 10-story building, with a fire reported according to preliminary information.

At other locations across the city, cars are burning, a garage cooperative has been damaged, and windows have been shattered. In the Solomianskyi district, Russian forces cynically struck a university dormitory, hitting it at the level of the ninth floor.

Emergency response and recovery operations are ongoing, with all relevant services involved.

Additionally, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, nearly one-third of the capital is currently without heat supply, and parts of the left bank of Kyiv are experiencing power outages as a result of the attack.

Russia continues its aggressive and cynical campaign aimed at the destruction of Ukraine’s civilian and critical infrastructure. The attacks persist even during the Christmas holidays, depriving civilians of peace and security and, due to strikes on energy facilities, leaving people without electricity and heating in the midst of winter.

As The Gaze reported just a day earlier, on December 26, a Russian strike drone hit a critical infrastructure facility in Odesa, causing a fire and power outages. The attack was yet another episode in Russia’s sustained campaign targeting the city’s port and energy infrastructure.
