Latvia Sends New Shipment of Combat Drones to Ukraine

Latvia has recently delivered another batch of 1,500 combat drones to Ukraine as part of its ongoing support in the international coalition for drone assistance.
This is reported by The Gaze, citing a post by Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds on the social media platform X.
The drones are being supplied by two Latvian companies and are part of a broader commitment to deliver a total of 12,000 drones to Ukraine in the first half of 2025.
Spruds shared images and videos of the latest shipment, emphasizing the continued strong partnership between Latvia and Ukraine in the defense sector. These drones are designed to enhance Ukraine's military capabilities as it faces Russian aggression. This new batch follows a similar delivery of 1,500 drones sent earlier in April, underscoring Latvia’s continued commitment to Ukraine's defense needs.
In his post, Spruds stressed that these drones are a crucial part of Latvia’s contribution to international efforts to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty. They are set to be used by Ukraine's armed forces to strengthen operations on the frontlines.
Latvia's support goes beyond just drone deliveries. The country’s recent decision to withdraw from the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines, along with other international measures, further illustrates its dedication to assisting Ukraine in its defense against Russian forces. This move enables Latvia to more actively provide Ukraine with the necessary tools to protect its citizens and territorial integrity.
The drone shipment is part of a larger international initiative involving several nations to equip Ukraine with advanced technology to combat the ongoing Russian invasion. Latvia's role in this coalition reflects the solidarity of smaller nations with Ukraine in the face of aggression from a larger power.
As the war continues to escalate, the international community remains focused on providing Ukraine with the resources it needs to defend itself. Latvia’s contribution of drones is an important part of this effort, with hopes that increased support will eventually lead to a shift in the course of the war and the eventual restoration of peace in Ukraine.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukraine has received €2 million worth of equipment from the IT Coalition.
