Lithuania to Spend Over €1 Billion on Defence Line Along Border With Russia, Belarus

Lithuania will spend about 1.1 billion euros to build a defence line on the border with Russia and Belarus, a project to be implemented jointly with Estonia and Latvia.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the country's Ministry of Defence.
‘Lithuania, together with Latvia and Estonia, is implementing the Baltic Defence Line project. Together with the Latvians and Estonians, we are developing a set of measures to counter mobility along NATO's eastern border,’ the publication says.
It is reported that experts from the Baltic countries are analysing the terrain and preparing strong fortifications, coordinated with the specifics of the territory and plans for border protection.
Three quarters of the planned investment will be spent on the purchase of anti-tank mines and related systems.
As The Gaze reported earlier, the Baltic states have launched a joint 10-year initiative to fortify approximately 600 miles of their eastern borders. The plan includes the construction of around 1,000 concrete bunkers, trenches, anti-tank ditches, ammunition depots, and supply shelters.
