Military Analyst Explains How Taurus Missiles Could Help Ukraine in the War

The future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has previously stated that he is ready to support the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine if this decision is agreed with European partners. Such weapons can significantly help the Ukrainian Armed Forces. First and foremost, it will be possible to strike at enemy military targets in Russia. This was stated by a member of the Territorial Defence Forces, military analyst Oleksandr Musienko.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the broadcast of the FREEDOM TV channel.
‘Undoubtedly, such weapons as Taurus missiles are of serious importance in terms of the ability of the Ukrainian Air Force to hit Russian troops‘ targets in Kursk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Rostov regions and wherever these missiles can reach with their technical capabilities,’ Musienko said.
He reminded that the Defence Forces already have such experience when Ukraine received Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles from the UK and France.
‘They were used to strike at military targets, especially at the command posts of Russian troops in the Kursk region, and not only. That is, if we are talking about how to act and conduct defensive actions and prevent large-scale offensive actions by Russian troops, then, of course, these missiles are a tool for striking at well-fortified enemy targets in the rear at a depth of one hundred kilometres,’ the analyst said.
These include command posts, places of concentration of personnel, command posts of battalion tactical groups, and command posts of troops in a particular direction, Musienko said.
At the same time, the serviceman noted that a whole range of solutions is important in war. One specific type of weapon is not enough.
‘When we talk about distance, about range, other weapons - artillery, drones, etc. - also matter. And when all of this works together, of course, it makes it possible to more effectively and successfully deter the onslaught of Russian troops,’ the guest summed up.
As The Gaze previously reported, Germany is prepared to send Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine, according to incoming Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
European officials have responded positively to the statement by the future Chancellor that he may send long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
