NATO to Conduct Institutional Audit of Ukraine's Military Education System

Starting May 1, an institutional audit will begin for the higher military education institutions under the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. This audit, conducted by NATO experts, could pave the way for the recognition of Ukrainian military diplomas within NATO member states.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
If the audit results are successful, this would allow for the certification of professional military education courses according to NATO standards. As a result, diplomas issued upon completion of these courses would be recognized across NATO countries, facilitating interoperability between Ukrainian military educational structures and NATO's educational systems.
The review will unfold in multiple phases, with funding from Lithuania's partners. Initially, NATO will provide Ukrainian military institutions with a set of evaluation criteria, which will guide both the audit and the eventual certification of military education courses. By May, Ukrainian institutions will need to submit self-assessment reports and complete questionnaires to confirm their compliance with NATO’s educational standards.
From June through September, NATO experts will evaluate the submitted materials, and in the fall, a group of NATO auditors will visit Ukraine to meet with representatives from the military education system. A final audit report is expected by December 2025.
Vladimir Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science at Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, stated that the audit results would offer an impartial assessment of the implementation of recommendations from the 2020 review, signaling the advancement of Ukraine's professional military education.
Additionally, under NATO's Defence Education Enhancement Program (DEEP), Ukraine's military personnel are benefiting from improved training in leadership, combat operations, professional development, and language skills, further enhancing their alignment with NATO standards.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukrainian Military development DELTA has aroused interest from NATO countries.
