Netherlands Transfer Viking Military ATVs to Ukraine and Train Ukrainian Soldiers to Use Them
Dutch Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans has announced the transfer of 28 Viking Bandvagn S10 tracked vehicles to Ukraine.
He wrote about this on the X network.
The head of the Dutch Ministry of Defence stressed that Ukraine ‘desperately needs our help in the fight against the Russian aggressor’.
‘The Netherlands is currently supplying 28 Viking tracked vehicles. The Marine Corps has trained the Ukrainian military for this. Our support for Ukraine continues to keep Russia at bay,’ he added.
The Viking Bandvagn S10 is an armoured amphibious all-terrain vehicle consisting of two parts connected to each other. Weighing about 11 tonnes, the vehicles can move through water at the speed of a pedestrian.
There are dozens of these all-terrain vehicles in service in the Netherlands, and it was decided to replace them with more modern ones in 2021.
Brekelmans did not specify whether the first Viking Bandvagn S10s had arrived in Ukraine and whether additional vehicles were planned. This military assistance to Ukraine has not been reported before.
Earlier it became known that the Netherlands would supply Ukraine with a Patriot radar and three launchers, as well as 51 mobile radars capable of identifying drones.
As The Gaze previously reported, the Dutch Ministry of Defence has ordered 51 mobile radars for Ukraine to detect drones.
