New Yamal Legend Begins: Spain Advances to Euro 2024 Final with 2-1 Victory Over France
The Spanish national football team has made it to the Euro 2024 finals, defeating France 2-1 in a match on Tuesday, 9 July.
This heavyweight football match pitted the tournament's top scorers against those who scored the lowest number of goals in the competition. It was no surprise that Spain, who were in better form, came closest to winning.
So France was beaten by a better team that was much sharper in its attacks and controlled the midfield incredibly well.
The Spaniards conceded a goal in the ninth minute, but soon got back into the game thanks to a spectacular goal by 16-year-old Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, who technically got rid of the French player's tackle and hit the far corner of Mike Mignolet's goal.
Lamine Yamal is the youngest player in the history of the Euros. Having provided three assists since the start of the tournament, Lamine scored his debut goal at a major international tournament against the French and his third goal for the national team. At the age of 16 years and 362 days, his opening goal made him the youngest player to score at a European or World Cup. He beat Pele by eight months. Who else can he beat in the many years ahead?
