Spain Defeats England in Euro Final and Sets a Historic Record
The Spanish national team became European champions for a record fourth time after defeating England 2-1 in Berlin.
This was reported by UEFA.
Spain's victory came from a goal by Mikel Oyarzabal four minutes before the end of the match.
The first half was like a cat-and-mouse game, the game was quite boring, with a minimum of chances.
But after the break, everything changed quickly. In just 2 minutes, Spain took the lead. In the 47th minute, Lamin Yamal broke down the flank and found a free Nico Williams in the penalty area, who scored from a sharp angle.
But if there is one thing that characterises the English team, it is resilience. A few minutes later, they levelled the score. It was done by Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer. Jude dumped the ball to Cole, who had just come on the pitch three minutes earlier, and he hit the bottom corner of Unai Simon's goal with a billiard shot. The score was 1-1.
Eight minutes before the end of the match, Yamal tried to do the same, but Pickford again coped with the task.
However, the England goalkeeper could not do anything about Oyarzabal four minutes before the end, when he scored against Mark Cucurella, putting an end to the match.
There was still time for a comeback in England, but Unai Simon saved Declan Rice's header and Dani Olmo cleared Mark Gehee's shot off the line.
With a 2-1 victory, Spain became European champions for the fourth time in a record-breaking fashion.
