Norwegian Film 'Drommer' About Love and Sex Wins Top Prize at Berlinale

On Saturday evening, the main prizes of the 75th International Film Festival were awarded in Berlin, the competition website reports.
The Golden Bear was awarded to the Norwegian film Drommer (Dreams - Sex Love). The film tells the story of a woman named Johanna who writes in her diary about her strong love for her French teacher. Eventually, her mother and grandmother read these intimate entries and are horrified by the content. But at the same time, they admire the strong writing style and the story.Johanna balances between romantic ideals and reality, exploring the emotions of self-discovery, love, and sexuality.
The Silver Bear for Best Screenplay was awarded to the Romanian comedy drama Kontinental-25.
The Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution went to the French fairy tale Ice Tower.
The jury awarded Andrew Scott (Blue Moon, USA) for Best Supporting Actor.
Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, USA) was named Best Actress.
The jury awarded Best Director to the Chinese film Living the Land directed by Ho Meng.
The Silver Bear went to the Argentine film The Message.
The Grand Jury Prize went to the Brazilian-Mexican film The Blue Trail.
As The Gaze previously reported, on 20 February, the world premiere of the documentary Timestamp by Ukrainian filmmaker Kateryna Hornostai took place at the Berlin Film Festival. This is the first film by a Ukrainian director to be included in the main competition programme of the Berlinale since 1997.
