Poland and Czechia to Strengthen Defence Cooperation and Involve Private Companies in Ammunition Production
Poland and the Czech Republic are strengthening cooperation in the arms industry and will organise joint production of ammunition. These topics were discussed at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Czech Defence Minister Jana Černohová, PAP reports.
‘We are determined, we have a common position,’ Kosiniak-Kamysh said.
Poland and the Czech Republic will also engage private companies in the defence industry to join the state initiative to produce artillery ammunition, in particular 155 mm calibre.
This was announced during a joint press conference in Warsaw by Czech and Polish Defence Ministers Jana Černohova and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Poland Kosiniak-Kamysh, Warsaw and Prague are determined to establish closer cooperation between the defence industries of both countries.
‘We believe that initiatives should be implemented, in particular, on the joint production of ammunition,’ Kosiniak-Kamysh said.
Chernokhova recalled the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, noting that NATO and the EU also face a shortage of ammunition in their warehouses.
‘When the war in Ukraine is over, we will have to build up our ammunition stocks and thus create ammunition production plants in our countries,’ Chernokhova said.
She stressed that cooperation with private defence companies is key in this regard.
