Poland to Acquire Warmate Combat Drones Inspired by Ukrainian Battlefield Success

Poland has signed a long-term contract to supply its armed forces with Warmate loitering munitions, citing their proven effectiveness in Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to the Polish Ministry of Defense.
The framework agreement has been concluded between the Polish Armament Agency and the drone’s manufacturer “WB Electronics SA”, with deliveries expected to include approximately 1,000 units by 2035.
“These are precision weapons that have performed exceptionally well in Ukraine,” said Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda. “Their successful deployment under real combat conditions confirms their strategic value.”
Warmate drones are designed for reconnaissance and precision strikes against enemy personnel and lightly armored targets. Compact and versatile, they can operate autonomously and be deployed either as portable systems carried by infantry or integrated into military vehicles. Advanced guidance modules allow for semi-automated flight with real-time operator control during the final attack phase.
At the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Poland’s procurement decisions increasingly draw on the frontline experience of Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s adaptation to modern warfare, including the mass use of drones and the development of effective counter-drone systems, has revolutionized the way we perceive combat operations,” he noted. “Poland is learning from this transformation.”
The announcement comes as 12 Ukrainian defense companies are presenting their technologies at a major arms exhibition in Kraków, underscoring the deepening defense cooperation between the two countries.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (DIU) has officially presented its latest maritime weapon, the Magura V7 unmanned surface vehicle (USV), marking a new era in modern naval warfare.
