Poland to Allocate Record €43 Billion for Defence in 2025
In 2025, Poland will spend a record 186 billion 600 million zlotys (about €43.3 billion) on defence. This is 30 billion more than this year.
This was announced by the country's Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, RMF24 reports.
According to the minister, ‘the total cost of armaments is a kind of “insurance policy” and an absolute priority.’
‘We have many priorities. The budgetary situation is certainly tense, but the government, led by the Prime Minister, with all the political forces that make up the Polish government, is fully aware that spending on defence and security is an absolute priority,’ he stressed.
Kosiniak-Kamysh stressed that Poland can feel safe because it allocates more than 2% of GDP to defence, which exceeds the commitment among NATO countries.
It is known that 186 billion 600 million zlotys is 4.7% of the country's GDP. This year, Poland's defence budget is 4% of GDP.
Earlier, the Polish Ministry of Defence announced that it would conduct a ‘large-scale’ operation on the border with Belarus.
As The Gaze previously reported, in February, the Armed Forces of Belarus conducted military exercises near the borders of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland.
