Poland Urges Citizens Not to Travel to Russia

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised its citizens not to travel to Russia.
The Gaze reports on this, referring to a corresponding warning in a post by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media on 18 July.
‘The Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not recommend travelling to Russia due to the war in Ukraine and the Russian authorities' recognition of Poland as an unfriendly state,’ the statement said.
‘Given the reduction in the number of consular staff of the Republic of Poland in Russia, the possibility of providing assistance to citizens is limited,’ the Polish Foreign Ministry added.
Russia's war against Ukraine and Moscow's decision to recognise Poland as an unfriendly state are factors that have been affecting Polish travel for a long time. However, the update to the recommendation may be related to the reduction in the number of Polish diplomatic missions in Russia.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Poland has promised a measured but firm response following Russia's decision to shut down the Polish Consulate in Kaliningrad.
