Polish Protesters End Truck Blockade at Ukrainian Border
Late last night, Polish protesters stopped blocking truck traffic at the Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska checkpoint with Ukraine.
This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
‘At midnight from 6 to 7 June, Polish farmers stopped blocking truck traffic in front of the Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska checkpoint,’ the statement said.
According to the Polish side, the blocking of traffic to the Hrebenne checkpoint ended at 01:20. As of 8.00 a.m., 40 trucks have been cleared to leave Ukraine.
As a reminder, strikes by Polish protesters on the border with Ukraine lasted for six months. Over the course of these months, the protests subsided and intensified.
On 6 November 2023, Polish carriers began blocking truck traffic at the Krakowiec-Korczowa, Yagodyn-Dorogusk and Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne border crossing points.
The International Transport Association noted that the strikes were caused by allegedly excessive competition following the facilitation of international transport between Ukraine and the EU.
On 23 November, Polish farmers joined the strikes at the border, protesting at the Shehyni-Medica checkpoint.
More recently, on 4 June, Polish protesters resumed their blockade at the Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska checkpoint.
Before that, the last blockade at the border ended in late April, following a request from Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
