An exhibition in honour of the Swedish band ABBA, which won the song contest in 1974, has opened in Malmö, Sweden, where Eurovision is taking place this year, Euronews reports.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of ABBA's victory at the contest. It will run until 12 May, the end of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The exhibition features exhibits from the band's Stockholm museum, including Dolce & Gabbana costumes from the ABBA Voyage digital concert and the scenery of the Mamma Mia! The Party.
Also among the exhibits are the black leather boots worn by Benny Andersson during his performance at the Eurovision Song Contest. In addition, the original Waterloo record is on display.
The band has stated that they have no plans to perform at Eurovision 2024. However, according to Euronews, digital holograms of the band's members, who have already been used for concerts, may perform on the stage. It is also likely that other artists will sing ABBA hits at the contest.
ABBA is a Swedish musical quartet formed in 1972 in Stockholm and is considered one of the most successful bands in the history of popular music. ABBA has sold over 380 million albums and singles worldwide. They are also known for their victory at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, where they represented Sweden.
Although the band members remained friends for many years, they officially broke up in 1982 and performed in public for the last time in 1986.
This year's Eurovision Song Contest will take place from 7 to 11 May in Malmö, Sweden.
As The Gaze previously reported, the director of Ukraine's stage performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is the celebrity music video maker Tanu Muino.
