President of Ukraine Zelenskyy to Address Nordic Council in Iceland at Session on Arctic Security
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take part in the session of the Nordic Council and address the members of the Council in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik on 29 October. The main topic of this year's session is ‘Peace and Security in the Arctic’. This was reported on the organisation's website.
The President of Ukraine will take part in the 76th session of the Council during his visit to Iceland. Zelenskyy will also meet with the prime ministers of the Nordic countries who will arrive in Iceland to participate in the session, and they will hold bilateral meetings and a joint press conference.
Earlier, Zelenskyy announced talks ‘with the Nordics about new principled steps that could increase pressure on Russia.’
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo also announced a meeting with Zelenskyy. ‘I look forward to meeting President Zelenskyy at the Nordic Council in Reykjavik. Finland is one of the strongest supporters of Ukraine in Europe,’ he wrote on the X network.
The Nordic Council, or Nordic Council of Ministers, is an organisation for coordinating cooperation between the parliaments and governments of the Nordic countries. The member countries of the Nordic Council are: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Norway, Sweden; associate members: Aland, Greenland, Faroe Islands; observers: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
