Russia Pounds Ukraine in Overnight Missile-and-Drone Barrage
Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, striking multiple regions with a mix of drones, cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons.
The Gaze reports this, referring to the regional authorities.
The attacks damaged critical infrastructure, sparked multiple fires, and left civilians injured, according to regional authorities.
Kharkiv suffered one of the most severe blows. Shortly after midnight, Russian forces launched a mass strike using “Geran-2” kamikaze drones, hitting the city’s Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts.
The attack caused extensive damage: more than 10 apartment buildings, civilian businesses, garages, a supermarket, a school, a gym, a fast-response medical substation, trolleybuses, and dozens of private vehicles were destroyed or severely damaged.
At least 36 civilians sought medical assistance, including two children aged 9 and 13 who suffered acute stress reactions.
Ternopil was also hit by a combined strike involving both missiles and Shahed-type drones. Several explosions were heard throughout the night as residents sheltered during extended air-raid warnings.
Mayor Serhii Nadal confirmed that residential buildings were damaged and civilians injured. Emergency crews are conducting rescue operations, with reports indicating that an apartment block was destroyed in the impact.
Authorities warned of temporary disruptions to public transport in the city’s Soniachnyi district due to ongoing emergency work.
Lviv region came under attack from strike drones and cruise missiles, damaging an energy facility and igniting fires at a woodworking plant and a warehouse compound.
No casualties have been confirmed, and essential services across the region continue operating normally.
Lviv mayor Andriy Sadovyi said the heavy smoke over the city was caused by burning tires at civilian storage facilities struck by Russian munitions. While early assessments suggest no immediate health threat, residents were advised to keep windows closed
Poland activated allied air formations in response to Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s western border areas, dispatching fighter jets and an early warning aircraft as a precautionary measure.
As The Gaze reported earlier, on November 17, Russia carried out a large-scale overnight drone strike on Ukraine’s Odesa region, igniting fires at key energy and port infrastructure sites.
