Slovak President Plans Ukraine Visit, Hopes for Positive Result

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini announced that he is preparing to visit Ukraine and hopes for a “positive outcome” from the trip.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to his interview with STVR.
Pellegrini said that he informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the preparations for the visit during a meeting at the summit in Vilnius last week.
“I asked the Ukrainian side to perhaps provide some substance so that it would not be just a courtesy visit. So that we could also find some positive outcome there for both sides, so that we could send such a positive signal,” he said.
The Slovak president also gave a positive assessment of Ukraine's development prospects after the end of hostilities.
“Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, which borders the European Union, can benefit from this, and it can really be a huge impetus for eliminating regional differences in Slovakia,” Pellegrini said.
It should be noted that the Slovak president first announced the possibility of a visit to Ukraine in December 2024. But the following month, he canceled these plans, explaining this by Ukraine's suspension of Russian gas transit.
Prior to this, Pellegrini was remembered for his statement that Ukraine would have to make territorial concessions to achieve peace.
As The Gaze reported earlier, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini stated that Ukraine was legitimately defending its territories and had every right to do so. He said this in his speech at the UN General Assembly.
