Swedish Government Provides SEK 9M to Promote Ukrainian Culture

The Swedish government has announced financial support of SEK 9 million for the Ukrainian Institute in Sweden to implement projects aimed at promoting Ukrainian culture.
This is stated on the website of the Swedish government, Ukrinform reports.
Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has caused huge amounts of destruction, including of cultural sites, and the Russian attack on Ukrainian cultural identity has various manifestations - from massive looting of cultural heritage to the destruction of historical monuments, the report says.
‘The Ukrainian Institute in Sweden plays a key role in preserving Ukrainian culture beyond the Russian destruction and ensuring that Ukraine is represented on international cultural platforms. Aware of this important mission, the Swedish government has decided to provide financial support to the Institute to continue its activities,’ the Swedish government said, adding that raising awareness of Ukraine in Europe and vice versa also reduces the impact of disinformation and strengthens the resilience of Ukrainian society.
As previously reported by The Gaze, French film legend and presenter of the most prestigious award in French cinema, Catherine Deneuve, dedicated the 50th César Awards to Ukraine. She hosted the ceremony with the yellow and blue flag of Ukraine pinned to her lapel on the stage of the Olympia in Paris.
