Terrorist Russian Missile Attack on Kharkiv: Two Dead, Over 24 Injured, Major Fire
On the afternoon of May 25, Russian occupying forces launched another terrorist attack on Kharkiv. Two guided aerial bombs struck a construction hypermarket, where more than 200 people — employees and visitors — could have been present at the time of the attack. So far, there are reports of two fatalities, over 24 injured, and many missing, according to Ukrinform.
A massive fire broke out in the hypermarket after the strike, covering an area of more than 10,000 square meters. Firefighters note that the presence of flammable construction materials in the hypermarket complicates the firefighting efforts.
"We have a large number of people missing. Judging by everything, the strike was aimed specifically at the shopping centre, where there were many people. This is pure terrorism," stated Kharkiv's mayor, Ihor Terekhov.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the latest terrorist attack on Kharkiv's civilian infrastructure pure madness. He stated that if Ukraine had sufficient air defence systems and modern combat aircraft, such Russian attacks would become impossible.
"And that is why we are appealing to all leaders, to all countries: we need a significant enhancement of air defence and enough capabilities to destroy Russian terrorists. This is a task that needs to be accomplished and can only be done together with the world. Every day we call on the world: give us air defence, save people," emphasized the President of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also called on partner countries to provide air defence systems and ammunition as soon as possible after Russia's terrorist strike on the hypermarket in Kharkiv.
"Russian savages committed another horrific crime. A strike on Kharkiv, on a construction hypermarket on a Saturday. According to preliminary information from the State Emergency Service, around 200 people were inside at the time of the attack. There are casualties and injuries. Western air defence can protect Kharkiv from this terror. We urge our partners to provide systems and ammunition as soon as possible to save lives," emphasized Shmyhal.
There is also information about a strike on Kharkiv's central city park. The number of casualties is not yet reported.
