The Netherlands is Sending a New Batch of Military Assistance to Ukraine
Following an extraordinary meeting of defense ministers from more than 50 countries worldwide in the Ramstein format, the Netherlands announced a new package of military aid, including drones, demining equipment, and ammunition.
This was reported by the official page of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands.
However, the department did not specify the exact quantity and cost of the military assistance provided. Instead, it is noted that, together with the latest package, the total value of the Netherlands' deliveries to Ukraine amounts to 2.1 billion euros. This includes one billion euros in direct deliveries, 468 million euros for "equipment purchased on a commercial basis," and other expenses received from various aid funds to which the Netherlands contribute.
Several other countries have also joined in reinforcing Ukrainian defense.
Finland, for example, has approved its 19th package of military equipment for Ukraine, totaling 95 million dollars.
"The outcome of the war in Ukraine will determine the security order in Europe and Finland in the distant future. That is why we will continue our firm support for Ukraine, along with our allies," said Minister of Defense Antti Hakkannen. The total value of defense aid packages provided by Finland to Ukraine now stands at 1.4 billion euros, according to the country's defense ministry.
Details of the package's contents and its delivery are not disclosed "for operational reasons and to ensure the safe arrival of the aid at its destination."
Canada, on the other hand, has announced the provision of artillery shells, winter clothing, and sleeping bags for Ukrainian military personnel, amounting to 25 million dollars.
As a result, Kyiv will receive: 2,000 additional 155mm caliber munitions, Smoke munitions, including 955 155mm caliber artillery smoke shells and over 2,000 81mm caliber mortar smoke shells, 2260 gas masks, 277 1,000-pound aviation bombs and corresponding fuses, as well as various types of 76mm naval munitions.
The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania has announced the immediate transfer of two NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine, as well as the purchase of 155mm caliber munitions and winter materials, including generators, military camp beds, and clothing. In addition, Lithuania will continue to train and rehabilitate Ukrainian military personnel.
Furthermore, three countries have announced a joint procurement of artillery shells for Ukraine. Norway, Sweden, and Denmark have announced the creation of the "Nordic Ammunition Initiative."
"The three countries are collectively contributing approximately 600 million Norwegian kroner, and Ukraine will receive these munitions in 2023," said Norwegian Minister of Defense Bjorn Arild Gram.
It's worth noting that during the 16th meeting of defense ministers in the Ramstein format, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany also announced their assistance.
