The USA and South Korea Are Increasing Pressure on Russia
Washington and Seoul have declared their intentions to intensify pressure on Russia after discovering that Moscow is transferring modern military technologies to North Korea in exchange for artillery shells for the war in Ukraine.
This was announced by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a joint press conference with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Jin.
"We see how North Korea provides military equipment from Russia to continue aggression against Ukraine, but we also see how Russia provides technology and support to North Korea for its own military programs. And this is a real concern for the security of the Korean Peninsula, a real concern for global non-proliferation regimes, a real concern for Russian aggression in Ukraine, and a real concern for its violation of numerous resolutions of the UN Security Council," emphasized Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
According to the South Korean intelligence agency, since the beginning of August, North Korea has sent over a million artillery shells to Moscow, which, according to analysts' estimates, represents approximately a two-month supply for the war Russia is waging in Ukraine.
Secretary of State Blinken stated that the USA continues to coordinate efforts with the government of the Republic of Korea and the governments of other interested states to "expose" Russia's attempts to supply military technology to North Korea and counteract such actions.
The U.S. Secretary of State also expressed hope that China, which values stability in the region, can influence the situation through its "unique relationship" with North Korea.
"We hope that China will use this influence to play a constructive role in deterring North Korea from its irresponsible and dangerous behavior. And as Jin mentioned, I am confident that this is what we will be discussing in the Security Council next year, where we will be together - together with China," noted Antony Blinken.
Recall that earlier, The Gaze reported that North Korea had transferred about a thousand containers of "equipment and ammunition" to Russia for the war in Ukraine.
Russia and North Korea deny the transfer of weapons for the genocidal war that Moscow is waging in Ukraine. At the same time, satellite data clearly indicate numerous shipments from North Korean ports to Russian ones. These batches then move to Russian ammunition depots just 200 kilometers from the border between Russia and Ukraine.
