“These Are Russia’s Real Messages”: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Shares Video of Air Defense Amid Nighttime Assaults

As Ukraine endured one of the most intense waves of Russian aerial attacks in recent weeks, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha published a chilling video from his home, capturing the roar of air defense systems intercepting missiles above the capital.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Sybiha’s post on social media platform X.
“Take a listen to the sounds above my home – and thousands of Ukrainian homes – this morning. Air defense is repelling Russian strikes,” Sybiha wrote. “Ukraine has been under massive air attack since last night, with ballistic, cruise, and cluster missiles, as well as hundreds of drones, targeting people throughout the country.”
Sybiha's message came as Russia publicly announced its intention to resume peace talks with Ukraine in Istanbul on June 2. Moscow claims it will present a new “memorandum” outlining its vision for a ceasefire and post-war settlement. However, Ukrainian officials have criticized the Kremlin for failing to provide any document in advance of the talks – a step they consider essential for meaningful diplomacy.
“Unlike the mythical “memorandum,” we can clearly see and hear Russia’s true “messages”, its missiles and drones,” Sybiha stated. He reiterated that only increased pressure from the international community will force Russia to engage in serious negotiations. “Russia will only become serious about peace once it feels another level of pressure.”
Overnight, explosions echoed across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Luhansk, Odesa, and Cherkasy. In Zaporizhzhia, seven Shahed drones struck the city, injuring at least one civilian and damaging private homes and critical infrastructure. In the Kharkiv region, early morning shelling of suburban areas left seven more people injured.
Despite the looming Istanbul talks, the timing and scale of Russia’s air raids have raised serious doubts in Kyiv and among Western analysts about Moscow’s sincerity. For Ukraine’s leadership, the message is clear: diplomatic gestures ring hollow when paired with escalated violence.
