Top NATO General Cavoli Says Ukraine Will Not Lose War Against Russia

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe, US General Christopher Cavoli, does not believe that Ukraine's defeat in the war with Russia is inevitable.
He said this during a hearing at the US Senate Armed Services Committee, broadcast by the National Cable Satellite Corporation.
When asked whether Ukraine was doomed to defeat, the general replied: ‘No’.
‘There is nothing inevitable in war, and the Ukrainians are now in a very strong defensive position, and they are slowly improving their ability to generate force and strengthen that position,’ Cavoli said.
At the same time, he acknowledged that it is ‘hard to imagine a major Ukrainian offensive’ that would free ‘every square inch’ of the country's territory from Russian occupation.
‘But it is also hard to imagine Ukraine failing and losing this conflict. I don't think that Ukrainian defeat is inevitable,’ Cavoli said.
He also noted that the Ukrainian army has undergone a significant evolution - ‘from a soldier with a rifle to a really serious modern military force’.
His comments came amid reports that the United States may for the first time ignore a meeting in the Ramstein format, which provides military support to Ukraine.
The upcoming meeting of the Contact Group, which will take place at NATO headquarters in Brussels, will be co-chaired by the United Kingdom and Germany.
As The Gaze reported, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy believes that Ukraine's accession to NATO is the most effective way to guarantee peace in Europe and the Euro-Atlantic region.
