Trump Delays Tariffs on Goods from Canada and Mexico

US President Donald Trump has suspended until 2 April the introduction of 25 per cent tariffs on large groups of goods from Canada and Mexico, Reuters reports.
As for Canada, the decision suspends tariffs on potash, which is very important for American farmers, but does not fully cover energy products, for which Trump has imposed a separate 10% tariff.
The pause will remain in effect until 2 April, the date on which Trump threatened to impose tariffs on all US trading partners.
The three countries are partners in the North American Trade Pact.
In response, Canada will postpone the planned second wave of tariffs on $87.4 billion worth of US goods until 2 April, Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said in a post on X.
As The Gaze reported, on 4 March, Donald Trump announced the introduction of 25 per cent tariffs on most Canadian and Mexican imports.
In response, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the introduction of a 25 per cent tariffs on American goods.
Trudeau said that by imposing high import tariffs on Canadian goods, the US president is trying to destroy Canada's economy in order to achieve its annexation. He added that Canada will never become the 51st state of the US.
