Trump Signals Continued Support for Ukraine After Call with Zelenskyy

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed satisfaction following a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling the conversation “very good” and “strategic” as discussions focused on the war, defense cooperation, and future U.S. support.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to European Pravda.
Speaking to reporters Friday night aboard Air Force One, Trump said he and Zelenskyy had discussed “a range of issues” and reaffirmed that the United States would continue assisting Ukraine.
“We’ve helped them, and we’re going to continue helping,” Trump said, though he did not elaborate on what form that support might take. “It’s a complicated situation. We’ll see what happens,” he added.
When asked specifically about the possibility of sending Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, Trump replied, “Yes, possibly.”
According to reporting by Axios, Trump privately told Zelenskyy during their July 4 conversation that he wanted to review paused assistance packages and was exploring ways to bolster Ukraine’s air defense.
President Zelenskyy later confirmed that the two discussed the battlefield situation, air defense deliveries, and the prospects for joint defense production.
Trump also referenced a recent, less cordial conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I already told you that I was very dissatisfied with the conversation with Putin. It seems he wants to go all the way and continue killing people. That’s not good. That’s bad. I was dissatisfied,” Trump told reporters.
Despite Putin’s apparent unwillingness to engage in ceasefire talks, Trump dismissed the idea that the Kremlin leader was “mocking” him.
Instead, he suggested that the Russian president is under pressure.“I think he is very worried about the sanctions. The Senate, as you know, is preparing sanctions, massive sanctions,” Trump added.
