UK to Provide Ukraine with New $75m Military Aid Package With Drones and AD Systems
The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth £60 million (approximately $75 million), which will include drones and air defence systems.
This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence on Twitter.
The defence ministry noted that the assistance will come from the International Fund for Ukraine, which is managed by the UK. Of this, £20 million (more than $25 million) will be used to provide air defence for Ukraine to "help protect Ukraine's skies".
In addition, the UK will provide new surveillance drones to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
On 7 March, UK Defence Secretary Grant Shepps announced during a meeting with President Zelenskyy in Kyiv that the UK would allocate £325 million to purchase 10,000 state-of-the-art drones for Ukraine.
The UK has been one of Ukraine's main allies since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. In particular, Ukrainian defenders have received Challenger 2 tanks, AS-90 self-propelled artillery systems, artillery shells and many other weapons. British instructors help train Ukrainian soldiers, who are then sent to the frontline.
In early January, the United Kingdom allocated the largest aid package to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian war. This was announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his visit to Kyiv.
