UK Transfers Almost $1 Billion to Ukraine from Frozen Russian Assets

The United Kingdom on Monday, 14 April, disbursed 752 million pounds (990 million dollars) to Ukraine under the Group of Seven loan facility using frozen Russian assets.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Reuters.
The latest British tranche to Ukraine is the second of three planned disbursements totalling £2.26 billion. The first was on 6 March and totalled £752 million.
The remaining instalments are scheduled to be paid in 2026.
‘The world is changing before our eyes, reshaped by global instability, including Russia's aggression in Ukraine,’ commented British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.
In 2024, the G7 agreed to jointly provide Ukraine with a $50 billion loan from Russian assets: the funds will be provided formally as a loan, but will be repaid from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
At the end of December 2024, Ukraine received the first tranche of the planned $20 billion US contribution from the United States, and in January 2025, the first €3 billion from the EU.
As The Gaze reported earlier, a year ago, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron announced that the United Kingdom would allocate £3 billion (approximately 3.5 billion euros) in annual military aid to Ukraine for as long as necessary.
