Ukraine and Czech Republic Strengthen Ties in Brussels Meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in Brussels to discuss support for the energy sector, joint defense projects, and the effective use of sanctions against Russia.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
During the talks, the Ukrainian leader informed the Czech side about the consequences of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure and possible needs for assistance.
The Czech Republic is already actively supporting Ukraine by supplying cogeneration equipment, diesel generators, gas heaters, and water purification stations to Ukrainian cities and enterprises.
The parties also discussed prospects for joint defense projects.
“We talked about the implementation of joint defense projects and initiatives to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace,” said Ukranian President.
Zelenskyy and Fiala also confirmed their shared position on the use of sanctions and frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine and its defense needs.
During the meeting, the Czech Prime Minister presented the President with a symbolic decoration made by a seven-year-old Czech girl as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Vasyl Zvarych assured that there is currently no reason to talk about the collapse of the Czech shell initiative, which has already gained international scale with the participation of nearly twenty countries.
He stressed that Czech President Petr Pavel supports the continuation of the program, and even critically minded political forces are discussing only a review of the mechanisms, not a refusal to provide assistance.
Zvarych also noted that the initiative strengthens the Czech defense industry, creates jobs, and ensures common security, so its continuation is pragmatic and expected even under new political conditions.
As The Gaze informed earlier, the Czech Republic has announced the construction and transfer of a modern observation satellite to Ukraine as a sign of support and strengthening of the country's defense and technological capabilities.
