Ukraine, Poland Launch Joint Unmanned Aviation Group

Ukraine and Poland have agreed to establish a joint task force on unmanned aerial systems, which will serve as a platform for coordinating technological initiatives and strengthening the defense capabilities of both countries.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to a statement made by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, on Telegram.
The Memorandum was signed together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who arrived in Kyiv earlier that day on a visit.
“We are taking our security cooperation to a new level in response to Russian terror, which threatens Ukraine and other European countries,” Shmyhal said.
It is expected that the central element of the joint working group will be training programs that will strengthen cooperation between the Ukrainian and Polish military.
The group will also promote the exchange of experience in the field of unmanned systems, develop and test methods of using and countering drones with the integration of innovative technologies, and ensure compatibility with NATO standards.
In addition, a Joint Declaration on Strengthening Security and Defense Cooperation was signed, in which the parties agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas, including the SAFE and PURL programs.
“We congratulate our colleagues on the fact that €43.7 billion will be allocated to Poland under the SAFE program. SAFE should become one of the key mechanisms for joint defense projects between our countries,” Shmyhal emphasized during a briefing by the defense ministers of Ukraine and Poland.
The Ministers also signed a joint letter to the defense departments of NATO countries, calling on allies to send experts to the Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC) and to actively participate in its projects.
Another agreement that Shmyhal announced during the briefing was active involvement in the work of the Ramstein Capabilities Coalition.
“Poland is the leader of the Armored Vehicle Coalition and a member of the Drone and Demining Coalition, so we are counting on active participation and accelerated assistance in these areas,” he said.
The Gaze previously informed that Polish troops will travel to Ukraine to receive training from local instructors on how to counter drones, as Warsaw intensifies cooperation with Kyiv following a series of Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace.
