Ukraine Wins 13 Medals at the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships

The 2025 European Weightlifting Championships concluded in Chisinau, Moldova, where Ukraine secured a total of 13 medals, finishing 12th in the overall medal standings, The Gaze reports, citing Ukrainian media.
From April 13 to April 21, 2025, the tournament featured 17 Ukrainian athletes who collectively earned 13 medals, including both "big" and "small" awards. Notably, the Ukrainian team claimed 5 bronze medals in the total lift category, placing them 17th in that specific tally.
In the tally of "big" medals – awarded for combined totals in snatch and clean & jerk – Ukraine earned five bronze medals. The medalists included:
- Olha Ivzhenko (55 kg)
- Svitlana Moskvina (64 kg)
- Anastasiia Manevska (87 kg)
- Valentyna Kisil (+87 kg)
- Bohdan Goza (+109 kg)
Turkey topped this ranking with six medals, including three golds, while Bulgaria and Armenia followed closely.
Despite not reaching the top 10 in major medal standings – a first since 2014 – Ukraine showcased solid performances in individual disciplines. For instance, Olha Ivzhenko claimed the country’s only gold medal in the snatch event (55 kg), contributing to Ukraine’s overall tally of one gold, five silver, and seven bronze medals.
Notably, Anastasiia Manevska extended her podium streak, earning a major medal at her fourth consecutive European Championship. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s leading female lifter in the 59 kg class, Kamila Konotop, missed the event due to recovery from an Olympic injury.
The Ukrainian weightlifting team demonstrated resilience and talent, with several athletes earning their first European medals. The results reflect both the challenges faced and the potential for future success in upcoming competitions.
