Ukraine Wins Gold and Bronze at IBU Para Biathlon World Championships in Slovenia

The Ukrainian National Paralympic Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon Team started the competition at the IBU Para Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia, with two medals - gold and bronze.
The winners of the first day of competition in the sprint were Oleksandr Kazik (Vinnytsia region; class of visually impaired athletes, guide - Serhii Kucheriavyi), who won gold, and Oleksandra Kononova (Kyiv region; standing class), who took bronze.
Today is the official training session. The competition will continue on 8 and 9 February.
Athletes from 15 countries are taking part in the World Championships.
The Ukrainian team is represented by 26 athletes.
Last week, the Ukrainian Paralympic team won 3 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals at the Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
These were the first test competitions before the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games, which will be held in March next year on these ski and biathlon tracks in Italy.
